If you’ve read Stormlight Archive, then you’ll know Shallan. If you haven’t, then the tldr is that she is someone who is able to see someone’s ideal form and draw it. So with a few friends this past summer, we asked, how might we make that into a reality?
Lightweaver is our attempt at that. You start by chatting with your browser’s default text-to-speech. It asks a set of monotonous questions meant to feel like a slightly too personal interview. But then 5 questions in, it flips the script. The text-to-speech glitches into your voice and then questions why you haven’t fulfilled your potential yet. Rather than answering your questions, the user is now put in the role of examiner of asking what they should be doing.
We had a lot of fun making and figuring out a design where we could both subtlely capture your desires while also trying to make it feel like talking to a better version of yourself. For something we threw together in a day, I’m fairly happy with this. There’s definitely potential here for something larger, but this was a nice little hackathon project :)
