Credit assignment is a tough problem. How is it that after our neurons fire and we get some reward, they know how to rewire? It’s kind of surprising that neurons never rebel, like the same we have “selfish” genes, could we not have selfish neurons where they decide to be heavily rewarded? Perhaps this is because they aren’t passed on through generations, but surely this is a mutation that could happen right?
